Rare Books That I Own.

Updated: Jun 22, 2021

Hey guys so this blog post is inspired by this video right here by G-Swizzle where she looks at the rarest books that she owns and so I thought about doing a post of my own as I own some rarer books. I tried to vear away from special editions but some are but here goes:

1. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir UK Hardback. This book as with many of these I did not get on release and sourced this from AbeBooks.

2. The Diviners by Libba Bray UK Hardback. I sourced this from Facebook Marketplace. I actually read this version of the book as my friend had it and knew I wanted to get into the series and so lent it to me. When one came up on Facebook Marketplace, I knew I had to have it.

3. The City of Bones Original UK Cover by Cassandra Clare. This one I actually found in a charity shop where I live and when I met Cassie Clare, I got her to sign this edition which makes it extra special.

4. City of Ashes Original UK Cover by Cassandra Clare. I found City of Bones in a charity shop and so I went on a mission to find this one. Luckily, I found this on the website Alibris.

5. The Gathering Dark, the original UK name for Shadow and Bone. This one was also a charity shop find. I actually recognised the name Leigh Bardugo at first, then googled it and found out that this edition is quite rare. I had this edition signed by the author when I met her.

6. Lady Midnight Waterstones Special Rune Edition by Cassandra Clare. Before I knew how rare this one would become, I actually just picked this one because it was prettier than the regular cover. This is one of 1,000 and now is extremely rare and was signed by the author. I now own all of the Waterstones Rune Editions for Lord of Shadows, Queen of Air and Darkness, Red Scrolls of Magic and the Lost Book of the White.

7. Circe UK Hardback by Madeline Miller. I'm not 100% sure about this one but it's one that I haven't seen around much past the UK paperback release. This was a charity shop find.

8. City of Brass UK Hardback by S.A Chakraborty. This hardback is definitely more sought out in the community and unfortunately because of that, the price has gone way high. I didn't get it on release but I wish I had because I loved the arc that I received of it and now the price of it. It would have saved me a lot of heartbreak trying to find this gorgeous edition.

9. Nevernight UK Hardback by Jay Kristoff. This one isn't as rare now due to the re release by illumicrate but this is the UK Standard Hardback. There are rarer editions of this such as the Waterstones Special Edition with black sprayed edges but this is not that. Even so, this hardback was going for a lot of money at one point. I found this edition on Abebooks.

10, 11 and 12. The Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy UK Hardback by Laini Taylor. This whole trilogy is now out of print in this edition but you can easily find the first two on Abebooks. The third book, Dreams, however is a bit harder to find. These editions had a limited run but it was even smaller for Dreams. I found my copy in my local WHSmiths when it was already out of print. The book is a bit damaged but it completed my set.
